In 1964 James and Vera Stillmank opened Vera's House of Bridals in a country home in Janesville, Wisconsin.
Their business philosophy was as simple then, as it is today... give the customer wonderful service and the perfection of fit.
Rapidly this original location became too small and in 1968 a new colonial style bridal shop was designed and built by their enterprising family.
Jim and Vera had seven children who all contributed to the business through their school years, keeping the 'family buisiness' growing at a rapid pace.

1981 brought expansion into the Madison, Wisconsin area, thus continuing
the tradition of service for which Vera’s is known. With crowded conditions developing in a leased space, the decision
was made to build their own 12,000 sq. ft. facility on Big Sky Drive in 1986.
The same philosophy that began the business in the 1960's still
held strong, and again growth dictated expansion. This expansion was in 1992 to Cherry Valley, Illinois, a community near Rockford.
With this opening a new generation of 'Vera's Brides' was begun.
With each of these expansions Vera's learned about the needs of their customer, and realized that two more changes
needed to occur. The original Janesville location was closed and re-opened in May of 2003 as Vera's Clearance Center for the price conscious consumer.
In addition to this re-organization the decision was made in the fall of 2005 to close our Cherry Valley location and consolidate our designer lines to our Madison, Wisconsin salon.
Vera's Clearance Center in Janesville is based on giving the bride a low-cost, no-service alternative to Vera's full-service salon with bridal gowns as low as $99!
While these drastic price cuts do not allow for alteration services at our Janesville location, you will still find that
excellence in customer service and the perfection of fit and finish continues to be the top priority at Vera’s Madison location.
Vera’s has a wonderful atmosphere in which to plan your most special occasion.

From Interstate 90 take Hwy 12 west for approximately 13 miles to the Mineral Point Rd. exit. Turn right on Mineral Point Rd. Proceed one block, turn right onto Big Sky Drive.

From Interstate 90 exit on Hwy 11 West (Exit 177). Go west to the second stop light. This is Hwy 51. Turn right and we are 1/8 mile on the left.
